Silvery Marmoset

Mico argentatus

The beautiful  Silvery Marmoset (Mico argentatus) is one of the species known as a New World Primate and makes up a big portion of our Exotic Primates collection.

Natural Habitat:

This New World Primate originally comes from the eastern Amazon rainforest in Brazil.

Appearance:

Their naked, flesh-coloured ears protrude from their heads, and moreover, is quite contrasting to their whitish silvery-grey body fur.

In addition, their tails have dark fur.

Rearing:

Furthermore, as is common with many callitrichids, the father and the other group members take part in raising their young.

Maturity:

In addition to this, the young are weaned within the first six months of life, and then finally reach full maturity at around two years of age.
